BOARD OF ELDERS
Elders function as spiritual shepherds for our church as well as giving board leadership to guide the church in its vision and mission.

João Gaspar
Elder
João (pronounced “G-Wow”) is married to Surita, and they have two school-aged boys. The Gaspars immigrated from South Africa and have called Williams Lake home since 2017. João is an entrepreneur who runs his own business and enjoys taking on new challenges, both locally and beyond. He also serves on the board of the Williams Lake Chamber of Commerce. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, skiing, and underwater hockey. João has served as an elder since 2020.

Darrell Craig
Elder
Darrell is married to Teresa and they have three grown children. Darrell’s role as an investigator with the RCMP brought them from Alberta to Williams Lake in 2019. Since landing here they have been involved in small groups, prayer ministry, and music ministry. Darrell joined the Board of Elders in 2025. The Craigs enjoy reconnecting with their kids & grandkids as often as they can. They also love the abundant fishing and camping opportunities here in the Cariboo.

Eghardt Schutte
Elder
Eghardt is married to Michelle and they have one school aged daughter. Originally from South Africa, the Schuttes moved to Williams Lake in 2019 to take on a role as physiotherapist here. They began attending WLAC almost immediately and have served in roles from small group hosts, to greeting, to Sunday School. They enjoy triathlons and skiing. Eghardt has served as an elder since 2021.

Larry Thomas
Elder
Larry & Becky are proud parents of two daughters & sons-in-laws & four wonderful grandchildren all living here in Williams Lake. Recently returning to Williams Lake to be closer to family, they found a new group of Christian friends here at the Alliance Church. Together, they have been involved in missionary work & pastoral ministry working with various church groups since 1987. They love to serve the Lord with the various gifts & talents we have been blessed with in Christ. We love to see the Body of Christ equipped into maturity, overcoming challenges & growing in intimacy with God. Larry is currently working at the RCMP detachment with Victim Services & other areas as well, while Becky has a thriving Music Studio for children & adults at the Hummingbird Centre.
